QoMEX 2026 - Quality of Multimedia Experience Meets Machine Intelligence

About the QoMEX Rising Star Program

The QoMEX Rising Star Program aims to recognize and promote outstanding early-career researchers who have demonstrated strong potential and impactful contributions to the field of Quality of Multimedia Experience.

The program highlights emerging leaders whose research advances the understanding, modeling, measurement, and optimization of multimedia quality and user experience across technologies, applications, and domains.

Selected Rising Stars will be invited to deliver Rising Star talks at QoMEX 2026, providing them with a high-visibility platform to present their achievements, research vision, and perspectives on the future of QoE research and applications.

One Rising Star Award winner (or two in exceptional circumstances) will be announced during the QoMEX 2026 Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility

Nominees must satisfy all of the following criteria:

  • Nominees must have obtained their PhD degree within the past 7 years, or be senior PhD candidates.
  • Senior PhD student nominees are expected to demonstrate clear independence, maturity of research vision, and significant contributions to the QoMEX community.
  • Be actively conducting research in Quality of Multimedia Experience, including but not limited to:
    • Subjective and objective QoE assessment
    • Human perception and cognition in multimedia
    • QoE-aware multimedia processing, coding, streaming, and networking
    • Immersive media (XR, AR/VR, volumetric video)
    • Multimedia systems, applications, and human-centered AI related to experience quality
  • Demonstrate clear potential for future leadership in the QoE community

Nomination Package

Each nomination package must include the following materials (all in PDF format):

  1. Curriculum Vitae (max. 3 pages), highlighting:
    • Key academic and/or industrial achievements
    • Major publications and contributions relevant to QoE
    • Professional service activities
  2. One nomination letter from a senior researcher or industry expert with recognized expertise in QoMEX / QoE, addressing:
    • Created and expected impact of the nominee’s work (academic and/or industrial)
    • Research originality and significance
    • Professional service and community engagement
    • Suitability for the QoMEX Rising Star recognition
  3. Proposed talk title and abstract (max. 1 page)
     For the QoMEX Rising Star presentation at the conference

Selection Criteria

The QoMEX Rising Star Selection Committee will evaluate nominations based on multiple criteria, including:

  • Impact and quality of research contributions in QoE
  • Originality and vision of the nominee’s work
  • Academic and/or industrial influence
  • Professional and community service
  • Relevance and significance of the proposed Rising Star talk
  • Alignment with the scope and mission of QoMEX
  • Interdisciplinary contributions bridging technology, perception, and user experience.

     

The committee will select up to three Rising Stars, who will be invited to present at QoMEX 2026.

Selection and Award Process

  • A QoMEX Rising Star Selection Committee, composed of members from the QoMEX Organizing Committee and Technical Committee, will review all nominations.
  • Selected Rising Stars will deliver their talks during a dedicated QoMEX Rising Star session.
  • Following the presentations, audience feedback will be collected and considered by the Selection Committee in determining the final Rising Star Award winner(s).
  • Certificates will be presented during the QoMEX 2026 Awards Ceremony.

     

If no nomination meets the expected standard, the committee reserves the right not to confer the award in a given year.

  • Rising Star Award announcement: QoMEX 2026 Awards Ceremony
